Finding a Hidden Lake

Two weekends ago we and some good friends from work took the day and headed down Power line trail in Anchorage to find the renowned Hidden Lake.

We found the trail to the Lake and set out, over mushy snow, mud and ruts.

Between the 4 of us we were well armed with two serious Nikons and one unserious and somewhat humorous Fuji.

The day was gorgeous.

Predictable battle of the cameras.

Pete getting hydrated.

Pete getting nourished.

Pete......oh, wait.............Asa and Julia hiking.  We decided that we missed the turnoff to the Hidden Lake so for now it remains Hidden.  Does it exist?  We hope so, for now all we have to cherish are our memories of the search, the legends we hold dear, and the sore muscles we brought home with us.

In an effort to redeem the weekend we spent Sunday hiking in Girdwood.  We did part of the Winner Creek Trail.  We would have done the whole thing if June were considered spring in Alaska.  But since it's apparently not we were unable to cross the hand tram and finish our hike.  So we opted for the always beautiful Virgin Falls.

Then Monday came and we had to go home.
