One of the coolest hikes that we've done this summer was in June. It was a last minutes Saturday decision and smack dab in between visits from Pete's parents and my sister.
This is a hike that we've wanted to do for a while. It is found about 30 minutes south of Anchorage and is called Falls Creek trail.
The flowers were just bright and new.
Every look ahead was beautiful foliage, snow, and rushing water while every look behind was a breathtaking view of the Turnagain Arm.
Pete, washing his hands in fresh snow melt.
We made it up to the lake and rested for a while before turning back.
The hike down was fun because we could slide most of the way in the slushy snow!
The best way to end a busy summer day?
Tailgating, of course!
