Car Camping

Two weekends ago we headed north with our friends to do some car camping near the Susitna River.  The goal was to get out of Anchorage, to fish, to stuff ourselves with lingcod, popcorn, pancakes, and beer and to pick berries and rose hips.  All between 8 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday.

The night passed successfully, much fishing and eating was done and sadly no pictures exist to tell that tale.

However breakfast is a different story.  Here's Pete's morning, I haven't had coffee yet, face.

And here's a very smart dog who knows where good things come from.

The top of the car served perfectly as a coffee bar.

The sun came up but the moon decided to stay out and play regardless.

The fall colors are intoxicating.

Here, Pete and Jarred are checking out the fishing.  That however is not the right dog.  I don't think?  Our camping neighbors happen to have had the same exact taste in canines as our friends.

Here's two rivers coming together.

Rose Hips.   Mmmmmm, going to try my hand at Rose Hip Jelly this winter.

The happy harvesters.

Denali Lookout.  The clouds were riding low so we couldn't see the top of the big mountain.  But the lighting was so beautiful.

Please excuse the very poor resolution.  This is a cropped shot of the following photo.  Check out the wild life!

And look what drove up while we were there!  I think this should be our second vehicle!  Yeah, Pete can drive it to work.  :-)  I'm sure he'd love that!
